Location and date 

ACTINIDES 2013 is jointly organized by the European Commission Joint Research Centre Institute for Transuranium Elements (ITU)  and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) . The scientific sessions will be held at the Congress Center Karlsruhe, in the “Hebel” and “Thoma” conference rooms, from the 21st to the 26th of July 2013.

Objectives

The ACTINIDES 2013 conference is dedicated to providing a platform for discussion and information exchange for current research in the physics and chemistry of the actinide and the transactinide elements. Specific topics will include fundamental materials science, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and application technologies. The conference will consist of presentations of new scientific results in plenary lectures, invited and contributing talks and in poster formats. The ACTINIDES 2013 Conference also offers an excellent opportunity to establish or renew contacts with colleagues during the scientific program, the poster session, the excursion program.

town overviewPyramideACTINIDES 2013 will be held at the Congress Center in Karlsruhe, Germany. Karlsruhe is situated in the sunny southern German section of the Rhine river and lies approximately between Strasbourg, France and Heidelberg, Germany. It is surrounded by interesting tourist areas such as the Black Forest to the south, the wine regions of the Alsace and the Palatinate to the west, the Neckar Valley to the north. Stuttgart, the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg and home of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche automobiles, is around 80 km to the East. Karlsruhe can easily be reached via train or car from Frankfurt am Main, Strasbourg, or Stuttgart international airports (see Travel). With a population of around 300.000, Karlsruhe is a medium-sized city with more than adequate hotel accommodation capacity and an excellent public transportation system.
